Professional Disclosure Statement - Master of Social Work Counselling Student

Donna Daae, MSW Candidate, RSW, RSSW She/Her

My name is Donna Daae, and I am a Registered Social Worker currently completing my Master of Social Work practicum through Sun Rise Therapy Ltd.

I attend the University of Waterloo and hold registration with both the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (#839109) and the Alberta College of Social Workers (#19871).

I bring over six years of social work experience, with a practice grounded in holistic, trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally responsive care. I integrate the Medicine Wheel teachings and the Seven Grandfather Teachings into my work, honoring Indigenous values and ways of knowing.

Much of my professional focus has been supporting individuals living with serious mental health conditions, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, as well as those navigating addictions, crisis intervention, and wellness within Indigenous communities.

My goal is always to provide a safe, inclusive, and confidential space where clients feel empowered to work toward healing in ways that align with their own goals, values, and identities.

In my current practicum, I am expanding my skills in the areas of sexual health, trauma recovery, and inclusive support for the LGBTQ2+ community. I have a particular interest in helping individuals explore their authentic selves—whether that be in the context of sexual health, gender identity, intimacy, or personal empowerment. My approach is to walk alongside clients, supporting them as they define and pursue what wellness looks like for them.

This work is also personal to me. As the mother of a Two-Spirit (Transgender) son, I have developed a deeper understanding of the unique challenges faced by gender-diverse individuals and their families. This has further strengthened my commitment to being an ally, advocate, and affirming support for those exploring their identities.

I practice in alignment with the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice set out by both the Ontario and Alberta Colleges of Social Workers. I also engage in ongoing clinical supervision to ensure my services remain ethical, reflective, and client-centered.

If you have any questions about my role, your rights as a client, or the services I can offer, please feel free to reach out. I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey.
